2026 Golden Globe Awards Encounter Fire Incident

The 2026 Golden Globe Awards had a rather alarming moment during the ceremony. On Sunday evening, a fire broke out in the backstage press area of the Beverly Hilton Hotel while Nikki Glazer was hosting the event.

According to Chris Gardner from The Hollywood Reporter, the incident occurred when a member of the catering team accidentally knocked over a flaming starno, which ignited nearby materials.

Gardner shared a clip detailing the incident on social media, mentioning that the fire quickly flared up, causing the carpet to catch fire and smoke to fill the area, but it was promptly dealt with.

“Crisis averted inside the backstage press room at the #GoldenGlobes when a caterer knocked over a coffee holder and the chest plate underneath caught fire,” Gardner noted. He added that, thankfully, the situation was quickly resolved.

The press room staff worked hard to extinguish the flames, ensuring everyone remained safe. Page Six attempted to get a comment from the Golden Globes about the incident.

The 83rd Golden Globe Awards celebrated last year’s best films and television shows, with notable winners being Timothée Chalamet for “Marty Supreme,” Teyana Taylor for “One Battle After Another,” and several others.

Glazer, hosting for the second consecutive year, delivered a memorable monologue that had the star-studded crowd laughing. One of her boldest jokes referenced Jeffrey Epstein’s connections to the entertainment industry, humorously commenting on the presence of so many A-listers in the room.

She jokingly noted, “The Golden Globe Award for Best Editing goes to…the Department of Justice. Yes, congratulations,” which elicited laughter from the audience.

In her routine, she also poked fun at Leonardo DiCaprio, teasing him about dating younger partners. To which DiCaprio responded with a laugh, clearly taking it in stride.

Additionally, Glazer made a quip about Timothée Chalamet needing to gain muscle for a film about table tennis, claiming it was a unique challenge for an actor.

Just prior to the event, Glazer revealed that she practiced her opening monologue an impressive 93 times, mentioning the effort to fine-tune her jokes for the occasion, while hinting at an element of wildness in her delivery.
