Fire reported outside Sen. Bernie Sanders’ Vermont office

A fire outside the office of Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders caused minor damage but no injuries, the Burlington Fire Department announced Friday.

Firefighters responded to a call Friday morning and found a fire between the entrance, elevator and front door on the third floor of Sanders’ office in Burlington. No one was injured, but there was moderate fire damage to the office door and significant water damage to much of the third floor.

The Burlington Fire Marshal’s Office, Burlington Police Department, and Vermont State Police responded. Investigation into the cause was continuing.

A spokesperson for Mr. Sanders did not respond to a request for comment. It is unclear whether Sanders was in Vermont at the time of the fire.
