Fired-up Anthony Davis dazzles in first-half of Mavericks debut

In the blink of an eye, the feeling around Anthony Davis's Dallas debut completely turned over.

One truck carrying the sign outside the arena even had the message “Fire Nico.”

Davis told reporters Friday that he understood why fans were upset about the team's transition.

“We understand Luka is in this franchise, who is in this city,” Davis said. “I'm not going to downplay that. How do you know what I meant to the city of LA? So I'm not surprised by the reactions of the fans and the reactions of the town. Play basketball and I should do it. It's my job to do this and give fans hope and security as to why Nico has brought me here.

“I don't know how [Saturday’s] That's what will happen when it comes to reactions,” Davis said. “I can't control it. Obviously it was a tough transition. It was a shock to everyone. My job is to come and win a basketball game.”
