A firefighter in New York City confronted a protester dressed as Elmo, who was waving a Palestinian flag, calling him “anti-American” on Friday. This incident occurred close to the Ground Zero ceremony commemorating the 9/11 attacks, as captured in a video shared by Turning Point USA (TPUSA) on X.
“F—–g anti-American motherf—–,” the firefighter shouted at the protester. It wasn’t clear whether he is an active firefighter or retired.
During his outburst, he also urged the protester to take former President Barack Obama, NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani, Governor Kathy Hochul, and Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez with him. The man continued by saying, “Take ‘em all. They’re all no f—–g good! You’re no f—–g good,” before walking away.
After he left, someone off-camera yelled, “The Jews are committing a genocide,” though it was unclear who had said it.
TPUSA highlighted that there seemed to be growing frustration from attendees of the nearby 9/11 memorial service.
The incident coincided with the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. The FDNY later clarified that the individual in question appears to be from a different fire department and has never been affiliated with the FDNY.
All living former presidents were present at the commemorative ceremony at Ground Zero, where both Mayor Mamdani and Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez were in attendance, along with Governor Hochul. Meanwhile, former President Donald Trump delivered a keynote address at a ceremony at the Pentagon.
