A first-grade teacher in Montgomery County, Maryland, has been arrested in connection with a fentanyl overdose death in Washington, D.C., police say.
U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) officers and special agents executed a search and seizure warrant at Sarah Katherine Magid’s Burtonsville residence and arrested her, NBC 4 reported. Reported Tuesday.

DEA agents and police detectives discovered that a man who died of a fentanyl overdose in March had been in Montgomery County and in contact with Magid in the days before his death, police said.
According to a D.C. police report, two days before the victim was found dead at a drug rehabilitation facility, the indictment states, he contacted Magid to obtain Xanax. Montgomery County police said text messages indicate Magid had been selling Xanax to the teacher for several months before his death and knew how dangerous the drug was.
According to text messages, Magid reportedly tried to contact the man the day before his body was discovered but did not receive a reply. The day after his body was discovered, Magid reportedly messaged him to say “I guess he’s dead,” and then said she was worried because she had not heard from him since.
“The documents also state that an anonymous source called police to say Magid had left class and was planning to sell drugs outside the school,” the NBC4 article reported.

“She faces five felony charges related to violations of the state’s Controlled Substances Act,” the article said.
