Sen. Deb Fischer (R-Nebraska) is projected to win the Republican primary, according to Decision Desk headquarters.
Mr. Fisher is running for a third term in the Senate and easily fought his way through a Republican race against farmer Aaron Kowalski.
There are no Democrats running against the Nebraska Republican, but independent candidate Dan Osborne, a former union leader, is aiming to run against her in the fall. Two candidates from the Legal Marijuana Now Party are also running in the primary to take on Fisher in the general election.
Political strategists say it’s a tough climb for Osborn, given Fisher’s support in the state and the headwinds of running as an independent.
Cook Political Report, a nonpartisan election handicapper, rates Fisher’s seat as “solid Republican.”
