Dennis Austin knows a thing or two about health and fitness.
After more than 40 years in the industry, she's seen every fitness fad come and go, but she knows there are only a few ways to truly stick to healthy habits for a lifetime.
“Do things that make you feel good,” Austin exclusively told Fox News Digital. “I love walking for fitness. I love doing light weights to get fit and stay fit. I love stretching and doing yoga. Combining that is really great. That way, you can surprise different muscle groups and get a kind of effect that keeps everything going without stagnating.
“If you enjoy what you do, whether it's pickleball, tennis, or any form of fitness, just move. Move as often as you can. You burn more calories standing than sitting. Masu.”
Dennis Austin, 66, says he's been doing 30-minute workouts for 40 years: “If you take a break, your body gets rusty.''

Austin, who has sold more than 24 million exercise videos and DVDs during his career, written 12 books, and appeared on fitness television shows, says there is one simple trick anyone can do to stay healthy and lose weight. He said there is one.
“My favorite tip is good posture. Posture says a lot about a person,” Austin said. “When you're slouching, your stomach has nowhere to go but out first. But if you're sitting up straight, pull your shoulders back and tighten your abdominal muscles.

“It actually gives me energy throughout the day because I feel like I've accomplished something and I feel good. It's a great sense of self-accomplishment,” she said. “That's why I want someone to say to me, 'Look, I did 10 minutes today. That's amazing. Start small. If you haven't exercised in years, do 10 minutes around your house. Start by walking for minutes. Block and then build up. Then you'll be healthy.”

Exercising in the morning takes the mental pressure off me and allows me to look forward to small goals for the day.
“When you exercise in the morning, you don't have to worry about it during the day,” Austin says. “Then I feel a sense of accomplishment. And then, at dinner time, I want to make dinner and drink wine.”
