Five members of a family, including three children, were found dead in a Utah home on Tuesday, and another person was rushed to the hospital with gunshot wounds, police said.
AP report Those killed were two adults, an 11-year-old boy and two girls, ages 9 and 2, West Valley Police Department spokeswoman Rosean Vainuk said.
The circumstances surrounding the tragedy are still not clearly understood.
The victim was found at a home in West Valley City, about nine miles southwest of Salt Lake City. A 17-year-old boy was found injured in the garage.
“It's absolutely terrifying. This is certainly going to be a big burden for the investigators in this case,” Vainuk said at an evening press conference, adding that the case was “isolated to this house.”
She added that authorities do not believe the suspect is at large and that the shooting was an “isolated incident within this home,” as reported by the Associated Press.
Vainuku added that the 17-year-old boy was “injured and hospitalized, so there are some challenges in communicating with him and getting more information.”
