Woman Found Malnourished and Chained in Texas
Authorities have apprehended five individuals in connection with the horrific case of a malnourished woman who was discovered chained in the backyard of a home in Texas. The victims were allegedly tortured by people she considered friends, who had reportedly lost all affection for her.
Police responded to a distress call around 9 a.m. on October 30 from a residence in south Austin. A passerby reported hearing cries for help from a bound woman. When officers arrived at the scene on Bitter Creek Drive, they found her shirtless and handcuffed to metal workout equipment, unable to escape.
According to the police report, the woman stated she had been held captive for several months and was not allowed to leave. Officers eventually had to cut through heavy chains to liberate her, noting visible injuries that suggested a prolonged confinement.
Emergency services were summoned to the scene, and the victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Medical staff observed injuries consistent with long-term restraint and numerous pellet gun wounds. In a disturbing twist, a BB gun was found in her clothing, and an examination revealed one BB lodged in her right eye.
Following the rescue, five suspects emerged from the home and were detained as officers secured the area. The individuals arrested include Michelle Garcia, 51, Crystal Garcia, 21, Mache Carney, 32, Juan Pablo Castro, 30, and Maynard Lefevers, 21.
Initial investigations revealed that multiple residents of the home were involved in restraining and assaulting the woman over an extended period. All five now face serious charges, including aggravated kidnapping and assault.
Amid the chaos, police also discovered two young children at the location. A four-year-old boy, identified as Castro’s son, reportedly told investigators that his father shot the victim when she misbehaved. He added that his mother was often present during these incidents. The children have since been placed into the custody of Child Protective Services.
The victim mentioned she had once been friends with Michelle Garcia, but the relationship soured when Garcia declared she no longer loved her and began to restrict her movements. She recounted a particularly distressing incident right before her rescue when she had an “accident” and was left in a vulnerable state.
In what sounds utterly cruel, several suspects reportedly took turns shooting the woman with a BB gun, then left her handcuffed outside without food or adequate clothing overnight in chilly conditions.
Strangely, the suspects claimed to have known the woman for years and stated she struggled with mental health issues. When questioned about his actions, Castro admitted to purchasing a BB gun specifically to shoot her, expressing a strange desire to avoid physical contact.
Michelle Garcia claimed she restricted the woman to just one meal a day out of concern for her weight. However, the victim appeared severely malnourished upon her rescue.
Police documented numerous serious injuries on the woman, including open wounds, swelling, flesh loss on her hands and feet, and facial bruising. Presently, all five suspects are being held at the Travis County Jail with bail set at $305,000 each. Court appearances are scheduled, with Carney’s date on November 18, followed by Michelle Garcia on November 21, and the others on December 15.
