Five people were injured after a disagreement over parking outside a Detroit bar, police said.
Detroit Police Department Deputy Chief Charles Fitzgerald said at a news conference that the fight broke out around 2:45 a.m. Friday at Blue’s Bar & Grill in Chicago.
“It’s pointless, it’s ridiculous,” Fitzgerald said. “It’s ridiculous to me that five people were shot in a parking lot.”
Police say a dispute over a parking spot quickly turned violent after one man pulled out a firearm and began firing into the crowd.

Police said the victims were between 33 and 49 years old, and their injuries were not life-threatening.

Police said only one of the five victims was involved in the altercation; the others were bystanders.
The male suspect was still at large as of Friday night.
He left the area in a dark-colored SUV.

Fitzgerald said he was investigating why the bar was open at 2:45 a.m. and said it should have closed.
“Obviously this blues club shouldn’t have opened at 2:45 a.m. when they were still fighting for parking,” Fitzgerald said.
