FL Gov. Ron DeSantis Delivers Late Night Update on Hurricane Helene

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) delivered a late-night update on Hurricane Helen Thursday night after the storm slammed into the West Coast.

In a lengthy press conference, the governor warned reporters to refrain from going out and told the public to hunker down.

“It's a very dangerous situation outside. You just have to hunker down right now. This is not the time to go out. Not only is water coming ashore here in northern Florida, but as far south as Florida. We are still seeing water levels rising in some areas.” the governor said.

The governor also warned that road travel can be dangerous.

“Unfortunately, there are usually fatalities in any storm,” he says. “It's very, very dangerous to be out on the road during a storm.”

As Breitbart News reported Thursday, Hurricane Helen has been upgraded to a Category 4 storm that can reach up to 130 mph.

According to USA Todaythis storm may be historic in that it is “the first known Category 4 storm to hit Florida's Big Bend region since record-keeping began in 1851.”
