Firefighters in the country's second-largest city and surrounding areas have been battling multiple devastating wildfires in recent days, killing five people and destroying thousands of homes and other buildings. More than 100,000 people have been forced to evacuate.
Speaking to Fox News on Wednesday, Los Angeles Fire Department Chief Sheila Kelliher described the sight of the charred hillside as “dramatic and apocalyptic.”
Kelliher said she saw winds of “up to 70, 80 and even 160 miles per hour” fanning flames across the region.
As Logan pointed out in a July video, his fire department officials emphasized that the inferno of urban destruction depends on the wind. He noted that residents had been “lucky” so far.
“He said, “Well, we just got lucky.'' He said, “We're lucky with the wind…but when the wind blows in the opposite direction, it burns straight through Los Angeles.'' Only,” he said.

Logan reiterated the point made by firefighters that they can't prevent it. “'And there's nothing we can do about it,'” he said, quoting first responders.
“Because you're talking about thousands of acres of land burning at the same time with winds as high as 60 miles per hour, these fires are very large,” the host added.

Elsewhere in the July episode, Logan said the threat of “the next fire” was one of the reasons he left California for Texas in 2020.
“I had to escape three times from my house because of the fire,” Logan told Morrill. “In the end, the two houses in front of mine were burnt down.''
