Florida couple marvels as Hurricane Milton uncovers long-lost wedding ring

A Florida couple's story of surviving Hurricane Milton has a silver lining after the storm unearths a sentimental wedding ring that was lost nearly a decade ago.

Laura and Basil Yorio were forced to evacuate their home in Palm Bay, Florida, before the hurricane made landfall Wednesday as the storm was a Category 3 storm with winds of 190 mph. The couple returned to their home Thursday as the storm moved across the Florida peninsula.

When Laura returned to survey the damage, she noticed a ray of light in her storm-ravaged garden.

“When I looked down, I saw a silver ring and thought it looked like a key chain,” she said. told FOX 35.

Upon closer inspection, she found her husband's wedding ring, which had been missing for many years. The ring that coordinated with her own wedding ring was lost nine years ago.

“There was a construction project about nine years ago, but before I knew it, it was gone,” Laura said.

The couple explained that they had searched their garden many times, but thanks to the hurricane, the couple's cooperative band was rediscovered.

Laura told local media that she had a landscaper come in every week to mow the lawn, but the ring had never appeared until now.

“We're very mindful that a lot of people are going through terrible things. We feel a little guilty for feeling happy about all of this, but it's been a good thing,” she said. said.

The couple said they believe the ring, long lost to Milton's heavy rains, has been able to see the light of day again.
