A Florida golfer was hit with his own club, strangled and drowned. Police have labeled it a “random act of violence.”
Police say Brian Hiltebeitel, 65, was allegedly assaulted by Junior Boucher, 36, while playing at Sandhill Crane Golf Club in Palm Beach Gardens on Monday.
Boucher had been evicted by his family just hours before the attack.
Witnesses said Hiltebeitel yelled, “He's trying to kill me!” The 65-year-old tried to escape from his insane attacker. Still, witnesses reported that Boucher chased Hiltebeitel into a nearby pond, continued to beat him with a club, suffocated him, and eventually drowned him.
Palm Beach Gardens Police Chief Dominic Pape said there is no indication that Mr. Boucher and Mr. Hiltebeitel knew each other or had any interaction before the deadly attack.
According to witness reports, after killing Hiltebeitel, Boucher took off his clothes and fled into the woods. The arresting officer had to use a stun gun to subdue and arrest him. Boucher is charged with first-degree murder. He has previous arrests for domestic assault, assaulting a police officer, and drug possession.
“Hirtebeitel, who owned an organic snack food company, was pronounced dead at the scene,'' AP report.
