Florida Republican Party Chairman Evan Power on Saturday condemned President Joe Biden’s declaration of Easter Sunday, March 31, 2024, as “Transgender Visibility Day.”
“The Biden administration’s attempts to shove its radical policies down the throats of the American people seem to have no limits,” Power said in a statement Saturday.
“As Christians gather tomorrow to celebrate Easter Sunday, one of the holiest days in the Christian calendar, President Biden will designate Easter Sunday as ‘Transgender Day of Visibility.’ “We believe it is appropriate to issue a declaration,” he continued. This was “announced on the same day it was first reported that Christian symbols were not allowed in the White House Easter egg contest.”
“President Biden should retract and apologize to the American people, and Nikki Fried should join all Florida Democrats in demanding the same.”
In fact, Biden officially declared Easter Sunday “Transgender Visibility Day.” In his declaration he demonized People who defend children from transgender ideology as “extremists.”
Biden’s declaration continues as follows:
Transgender Americans are part of the fabric of this country. Whether they serve their communities, serve in the military, raise families or run businesses, they contribute to America’s prosperity. They are entitled to and have the same rights and freedoms as all other Americans, including the most basic freedom to be their authentic selves. But extremists have proposed hundreds of hateful laws that target and terrorize transgender children and their families. Ban on books. They even threatened to jail parents, doctors, and nurses for helping parents care for their children. These bills attack America’s most fundamental values, including the freedom to be who we are, the freedom to make our own health care decisions, and even the right to raise our own children. The bullying and discrimination faced by transgender Americans is exacerbating our nation’s mental health crisis, and it’s no surprise that half of transgender youth have considered suicide in the past year .

At the same time, the epidemic of violence against transgender women and girls, especially women and girls of color, continues to claim far too many lives. Let’s be clear: All of these attacks are un-American and must end. You don’t have to be brave to be yourself.
Accordingly, I, Joseph R. Biden, Jr., President of the United States, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and laws of the United States, do hereby declare me, March 31, 2024, to be transgender. Visualization day. I call on all Americans to join us in elevating the lives and voices of transgender people across our country and working toward ending violence and discrimination based on gender identity.
Overall, many expressed both shock and disgust.
“President Biden has betrayed the central tenet of Easter: the Resurrection of Jesus Christ,” said House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana).
“Declaring Easter Sunday “Transgender Day” while banning sacred truths and traditions is outrageous and abhorrent. “This is why the American people are paying attention,” he added.

“Joe Biden will ban Christian symbols from the White House Easter Egg Roll while declaring Easter Sunday as Transgender Awareness Day,” said Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.) said.
“It’s a shame. Easter will forever be a celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ,” she added, with others echoing similar reactions:

This comes as President Biden has banned religious-themed art from this year’s Easter egg art contest, apparently including “religious symbols, overtly religious themes, or partisan political statements.” This corresponds to banning “content”.
