The Maga-loving Florida homeowner won a lawsuit against Walton County this month after winning an unpaid fine of more than $60,000 for hanging a massive Pro Trump banner on the side of his home at County Road 30A for several years.
A Walton County code compliance officer told homeowner Marvin Peavy that his various Trump banners are violating the scenic corridor code after someone filed a complaint, WJHG It has been reported. Peebee refused to drop the banner, and the county began fines $50 each day for his display. Peavey alleged that county law violated his initial right to amend.
“Their law cannot withhold my first amendment rights, so they came after my constitutional rights. According to the report, Peebee has hung several banners since 2020, including those read “Trump Now Trump Won Won”, “Missed Trump 2024”, and “Bulletproof.”
Peaby and his attorney eventually argued in court that the county violated his initial right to amend and was selectively enforcing county law. The county also allegedly inappropriately enforced violation hearings and notifications, the report continues.
On March 5, a Circuit Court judge took charge of Peavee and said he could continue flying the giant Donald Trump banner.
By November 2024, Peavy was facing $63,000 against the banner. The scenic corridor code allows political flags during the election year, but begins to fine offenders 15 days after the election.
“First Judicial Circuit Judge Jeffrey Lewis has ruled that it will not evaluate, assert, collect or establish a fine or lien against property,” the report states.
The judges too order Walton County will pay Peavy's $42,000 legal fees and fines for 10 days.
