‘Florida Is No Longer Safe’: Progressive Groups Issue Alarmist Travel Warning to Deter FIFA Visitors

Travel Alert Issued by Left-Wing Groups for Florida Visitors

A coalition of progressive organizations has declared a “travel alert” warning potential visitors to the United States about perceived risks. This notification, obtained via email, comes from groups like the Florida Immigration Coalition (FLIC) and the American Friends Service Committee, along with the state of Semiras Columbia.

The warning points to recent activities by federal law enforcement in Florida and raises concerns for tourists and travelers. Notably, Miami is slated to host matches for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

According to the alert, “As Florida gears up for the FIFA events, similar law enforcement strategies may pose threats to international fans and delegations. This is particularly true for people of color and those visiting from Latin America, Africa, and Asia, who might face undue scrutiny or questioning.”

Tessa Petit, who leads the Florida Immigration Coalition, emphasized, “Florida has become a less secure destination for foreign tourists. The ability of federal and local authorities to detain individuals without clear justification means that anyone could be at risk. People should really think about whether attending a soccer game is worth the risk of facing uncertain and potentially dangerous circumstances with law enforcement.”

She further urged the international community to be mindful of these dangers before planning to visit Florida.

FLIC did not provide an immediate response when contacted for further comment.

The travel alert criticizes what it describes as a “pattern of coordination” between federal immigration officials and local law enforcement, which has led to increased instances of racial profiling and questionable engagements based on a person’s appearance or language.

The coalition describes itself as a collection of civil rights advocates and community leaders focused on human rights issues.
