Florida mom Catherine Griffith shared eerie final photo before she was allegedly stabbed to death by son Collin

A Florida mother who was allegedly stabbed in the neck by her knife-wielding teenage son over the weekend posted a chilling final message on Instagram the day before the brutal murder.

Katherine “Kathy” Griffiths, 39, was found dead in her Auburndale home by police who responded to a call from her son, Collin.

When police arrived on scene, they found a 17-year-old female dead, standing in front of the home, covered in blood and with a knife wound to her neck.

“That old pain in my body, that crackling sound from a tiny crack in my soul. I know it's time to go… Sometimes giving up is the strongest thing.” Katherine Griffiths captioned her Instagram post with a creepy comment. It features lyrics from Taylor Swift's “It's Time to Go” and an image of a secluded footbridge leading into the woods.

His mother's feed is filled with photos of her fun times with Collin. Including May 5thwhere he is photographed standing in front of a car decked out in a bow.

“Congrats on your early graduation present!!! Congrats Collin on your new 2024 VW Jetta!!! I love you and am so proud of you!!!”

Officers who arrived on the scene on Sunday said Collin “showed no emotion whatsoever” after killing his mother.

Before her body was discovered, neighbours said they saw the attacker drag her by her hair into the house as she repeatedly begged for him to let her go.

Collin told police that he and his mother had a lengthy exchange of blows before his mother fell on top of the knife, suffering a fatal wound to her throat.

But when investigators pressed him about inconsistencies between his story and the evidence at the scene, he quickly called for an attorney.

Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd described the scene as a “cold-blooded murder.”

Colin had a history of abusing his mother and had attacked her on a number of occasions, including “stomping” on her, which resulted in him being detained due to mental health concerns.

After being released from state custody, Collin allegedly threatened to kill either himself or Cathy.

Cathy's death comes nearly a year and a half after Collin was charged with shooting and killing her father, Charles, on Feb. 14, 2023, at their home in Lincoln County, Oklahoma.

No one else was in the home at the time. The boy, who was 15 at the time, told police his father cornered him inside the house and shot him, once in the chest and once in the head, in self-defense.

Judd said the murder charge was dropped because Oklahoma authorities found no evidence to refute Collin's claim of self-defense.

“We broke the pattern, but that pattern tore us all apart. I don't regret leaving yet. I regret not leaving sooner,” the photo's caption reads.

Collin has been charged with first-degree murder, kidnapping and violating a restraining order, and police have requested that he be tried as an adult.
