Florida mom pleads for prayers after daughter arrested in Turks and Caicos

Sharitta Sinise Greer, 45, was arrested at the airport for ammunition possession and became the fifth American to be arrested and detained at TCI since February. Oklahoma’s Ryan Watson Tyler Wenrich of Virginia, Brian Hagerich of Pennsylvania, and Michael Lee Evans of Texas.

Greer’s mother, Willie Lucas, said it was heartbreaking to leave her daughter on the island and return to her Florida home.

Lucas: “I didn’t want to go home.” told FOX 35.

Lucas expressed hope that her daughter was safe and asked people to keep the family in their prayers.

“Please be safe when you leave town. Just be safe and keep us in your prayers, because God knows we’re going to need it.” Lucas said.

Chanchie Willis, Greer’s cousin, said the ammunition found was “just a terrible mistake.”

“Just two bullets? All five shots were horribly wrong,” Willis said.

After posting bail, Greer waited out an uncertain future in a rental property on the island with four other Americans.

Each of the five men could face up to 12 years in prison.

“It brought joy to my heart to see the bond between others and to be able to reach out to her and show her that she is not alone and that we are all in this together.” Willis said..

Watson, Hagerich and Wenrich’s father previously spoke to Fox News Digital about their arrests over ammunition that was found in their luggage.

All three said they were on their way home from their respective vacations when security at TCI Airport found the stray bullet in their bags.

The three also said they had left ammunition in their bags on previous hunting trips, although they had not intended to bring it to the island.

“We had no intention of bringing anything into this country. … We were just trying to pack board shorts and flip-flops. That’s all we were concerned about bringing into the country.” Watson previously told FOX News Digital. “So…it never occurred to us to look into these things. And there are a lot of local people who have been blessed just like that and have very benevolent hearts.”

The detainees told the TCI Superior Court that they had to take “exceptional steps”, including proving that they had no criminal records, that they did not intend to bring ammunition into the airport, and why the 12-year sentence was excessive.
