Friends of a Florida mother recently arrested after her husband allegedly filmed her engaging in sexual acts with their dog have started a fundraising campaign to aid her. They argue that she was a victim of her husband’s revenge.
Malia Nummerdor, a 38-year-old mother of two sons, was taken into custody last week. Her estranged husband, Erik Nummerdor, publicly accused her of these acts on Facebook, claiming he had photographic and video evidence, according to legal documents.
The fundraiser, which kicked off on Monday, states that Malia and her children’s “lives have been turned upside down” due to this distressing situation involving her estranged husband and the allegations she insists are false.
According to the campaign, the family has lost their home, and Malia, who resides in Punta Gorda, is facing hefty legal fees. It also mentions that she grew up as an only child and has no living parents, which means she has been relying on her close friends for support during this tough time.
“Malia is confronting serious accusations, and she requires skilled legal assistance to handle them properly. This ordeal has also adversely impacted her young sons, who deserve privacy and stability as the adults navigate the next steps,” the post reads.
“This fundraiser isn’t about determining the truth of the allegations. It’s about helping a mother and her children through a very challenging time and ensuring Malia has the legal support she needs.”
However, despite its noble intentions, the fundraiser has struggled to gain traction, managing just two donations of under $20 within its first day.
Malia faces charges of sexual contact with an animal after Erik reported to police that he had set up security cameras in their home. He had initially installed them to uncover who was stealing money from a coin jar, as detailed in the arrest report by the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office. According to Erik, everyone in the household was aware of the cameras.
While reviewing footage from a bedroom camera, he allegedly discovered clips of Malia engaging in sexual acts with the family dog, named Ranger, according to law enforcement.
Erik provided investigators with the recording and access to a laptop containing the footage, which police said provided independent verification of his claims.
On September 15, police questioned Malia, who seemed impaired and admitted to being under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time.
When asked about the dog’s positioning relative to her genital area, Malia denied any sexual conduct and said she was just lying next to and petting her elderly dog. However, police reported that when they pressed for clarity on her physical position and the dog’s placement, she was unable to give a clear or consistent answer.
Malia’s Facebook showcases various photos over the years with Erik, whom she married in 2023, as well as their two sons.
As of now, Erik has not publicly responded to the situation.
Following her arrest on September 15, Malia was booked at the Charlotte County Jail, where she was photographed smiling for her mugshot before being released.
