Florida Nurse’s License Revoked Following Sexual Assault Case
A nurse from Florida is currently serving time in prison for sexually assaulting her 15-year-old step-son, leading to the revocation of her medical license shortly after her husband filed for divorce. Alexis von Yates, age 35, from Ocala, has been sentenced to two years in prison after her husband, Frank, discovered her in a compromising situation with her step-son in July 2024.
After pleading no contest to lewd and lascivious assault, von Yates was remanded in custody in September 2025, with the original charge reduced. The Florida Board of Nursing held a meeting with her attorney last month, resulting in the state revoking her nursing license, according to local reports.
Previously, her license was temporarily suspended in April 2024. However, it was officially revoked following a meeting in October where she did not contest the allegations against her, as noted in the final order by health officials.
Additionally, her estranged husband initiated divorce proceedings last month in response to her actions. Details from the arrest warrant revealed that on the night of July 26, 2024, after putting her two young children to bed, von Yates chose to hang out with her step-son, who was visiting for the summer.
The two were reportedly engaged in activities like gaming and watching movies when von Yates made a shocking remark about her own situation, expressing excitement over not having had sex in two weeks. This, naturally, made the step-son uncomfortable.
As the evening progressed, they eventually started cuddling on the couch. At one point, von Yates reportedly expressed a wish that her step-son was older. This escalated into her removing her underwear and engaging in sexual acts with him.
Frank returned home shortly after 1 a.m. and was understandably horrified to find them under a blanket on the couch, leading to an explosive confrontation. The father described his spouse in extremely negative terms.
Worried, the boy ran from the house, eventually staying the night at his grandparents’ place. The next day, a call was made by the boy, during which von Yates allegedly suggested that if they hadn’t been caught, things would have gone differently. Alarmed by the incident, family members intervened, but initially, Frank did not report it to the police.
Ultimately, concerned relatives contacted law enforcement, resulting in von Yates’ arrest in November 2024. She was charged with sexual assault and, while initially pleading not guilty in December 2024, she later accepted a plea deal.
Due to the circumstances, the prosecutor emphasized the importance of the victim’s emotional health over any additional leniency for von Yates. The plea agreement mandates that von Yates serve her two years in prison followed by two years of community control, stay registered as a sex offender for a decade, complete 200 hours of community service, and pay associated fines and court costs.
Currently, von Yates remains in prison, reflecting on the severe consequences of her actions.
