Florida radio stations are embracing a new identity, labeling themselves as “Trump Country.”
93.7 Wehl in Fort Myers has adopted this branding, aiming to channel the spirit of the Trump 2.0 era. A quick visit to their website showcases a photo of President Donald Trump in a neutral cowboy hat, complemented by a classic campaign logo featuring the phrase “Make Trump Country 93.7 great again” against a blue backdrop right on the homepage.
The station also promotes a contest called “The Cancel Bowl,” where ads depict Trump in a referee outfit. The challenge invites listeners to share their takes on what they consider the most disheartening aspect of modern football—or even life in general.
Here are the details:
The Cancel Bowl can be found at 93.7 Trump Country. Listeners can “throw a flag” on various cancelations including team names, anthems, and halftime shows. The segment encourages callers to leave voicemails detailing the most disappointing moments they’ve witnessed in football or life. A weekly winner receives the Trump Country Tailgate Command Kit, which includes a flamethrower grill starter, ribs, a camouflage cutting board, and a flag toothpick. It’s framed as more than just football season; it’s all about the cancel culture.
Featured songs include “Male! I feel like a woman,” in collaboration with Post Malone, and Blake Shelton’s “Pour Me a Drink” with Shania Twain.
CBS News mentions that the station utilizes voice actors reminiscent of Trump for some advertisements:
In a recent segment, a voice impersonating Trump announced a campaign for “Deportation a Day,” offering listeners a chance to win a cruise to Mexico. On-air promotions featured Trump-like voices along with young Hispanic male impersonators to evoke travel-related comparisons, with Trump’s voice linked to the “Gulf of Mexico.”
Schwartzel, the president and general manager, noted to CBS that they did not seek permission for the rebranding. “I don’t think the president or anyone else will really be upset about it,” he remarked, describing the effort as comedic.
It’s worth mentioning that Congress is currently in a scramble to fill Rep. Byron Donald’s (R-FL) seat, as he aspires to be Florida’s next governor.
