Cammack Evacuated Following Death Threats
Northern Florida Congressman Kat Cammack announced on social media Wednesday that she and her family were evacuated due to death threats targeting them and her staff.
Reportedly, this isn’t the first time Cammack has faced such threats. Following a Wall Street Journal article last May mentioning her pregnancy, she claims the threats intensified. In her post, she noted, “After the Wall Street Journal reported on my life-threatening ectopic pregnancy, these threats broke out: an insurvivable pregnancy without a heartbeat. Since then, we have received thousands of hateful messages and dozens of credible threats that law enforcement is actively investigating.”
It’s worth mentioning that her interview with the Wall Street Journal has drawn attention, especially with the backdrop of a new state abortion law and rumors suggesting that she supported Florida’s Heartbeat Act. Cammack clarified, saying, “To those who spread misinformation: I didn’t vote for Florida’s beat laws. I serve in the US House of Representatives, not in the Florida state legislature.” She emphasized her commitment to advocating for women’s health, stating, “I’m not threatened. I’m not going back to the fight for women and my family. We need a real conversation about maternal medicine in America.”
Her social media post included photos illustrating the harassment she has encountered. This escalating threat landscape has raised concerns regarding the safety of lawmakers in Washington.
Cammack recently discussed her ectopic pregnancy in an interview, explaining that she initially hesitated to terminate the pregnancy out of fear of breaking state laws. “It was a terrifying situation,” she said, recalling her distress despite knowing the potential fatality of her condition.
In a curious twist, she condemned the pro-choice rhetoric often accompanying discussions about such issues, saying, “Even if what I’ve experienced wasn’t abortion, there are comments like, ‘Well, thank God for having abortion services.'” Fox News Digital reached out for further comments from her office but hasn’t received a response yet.
