Florida Senator Moody introduces measure to speed up the removal of illegal immigrant criminals.

Sen. Ashley Moody Introduces Bill for Removal of Criminal Immigrants

Senator Ashley Moody plans to unveil legislation on Wednesday aimed at facilitating the expulsion of criminal illegal immigrants from the United States, especially those linked to gangs or foreign terrorist organizations. This initiative aligns with ongoing discussions regarding immigration reform.

Moody, a Republican from Florida, is set to introduce “The Expedited Removal of Criminal Aliens Act.” She is co-sponsoring the bill with Senator Eric Schmidt from Missouri.

According to Moody’s team, the proposed legislation is critical for supporting immigration strategies championed by the Trump administration. “After four years of systematic demolition of our country’s immigration and national security structure under Joe Biden, Americans have given President Trump the authority to wipe out Biden’s disruption,” she stated. Moody also expressed frustration about what she perceives as obstruction from Democrats and certain judges regarding efforts to enhance immigration enforcement.

She mentioned incidents involving criminals such as Kilmar Abrego Garcia, asserting that individuals from peaceful families should not hide among dangerous offenders. “I think it’s really troubling,” she said.

Moody criticized the resistance from Democrats against the swift removal of illegal aliens convicted of violent crimes, questioning the logic behind such opposition.

Her bill proposes immediate removal for immigrants with affiliations to criminal gangs, those connected to foreign terrorist groups, or anyone with felony or misdemeanor convictions. This could include serious charges such as assaulting law enforcement, sexual offenses, domestic violence, or crimes involving children.

Moody emphasizes the introduction of what she views as common-sense immigration policies to help protect communities. Her efforts come amid ongoing legal battles over cases like that of Abrego Garcia, an immigrant recently deported back to El Salvador who purportedly has ties to MS-13, a gang recognized as a terrorist organization by Trump.

Additionally, a Homeland Security investigation revealed that Abrego Garcia was identified as an MS-13 member by law enforcement in 2019, further complicating discussions surrounding his deportation.

Overall, the developments in Moody’s bill reflect heightened tensions and differing views on immigration policies and national security issues within the political landscape.
