Florida Sheriff’s Deputy Killed, Two Others Wounded in Ambush

One Lake County, Florida sheriff’s deputy was killed and two others were injured Friday while responding to a disturbance call around 8 p.m.

Fox 35 report According to Sheriff Peyton C. Grinnell, the deputy who died was “ambushed.”

The deputy who died entered the home and was “subject to heavy gunfire” and fatally wounded. Two other deputies were shot as they attempted to remove him from the home.

According to WFTV, after the body of the deceased deputy was transported to the Leesburg Coroner’s Office on Saturday morning, a procession was held by officers from “Leesburg Police Department, Muscote Police Department, Tavares Police Department, Eustis Police Department, Clermont Police Department and the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.” I got it..

“‘It’s horrible that families are trapped in their homes and you can’t help them.’ Said Lake County Sheriff Peyton Grinnell: “It’s going to be a long time before we get back to normal.”

When police arrived at the scene and took control, they found two more bodies inside the house, but it is unclear whether they were killed by police bullets or whether it was a murder-suicide.
