A shooting in Florida on Friday left one sheriff’s deputy dead and two others injured, authorities said.
Lake County Sheriff Peyton C. Grinnell said at a press conference early Saturday morning that deputies were called to a disturbance at a home on Brookside Drive in Eustis, Florida, around 8 p.m. Fox 35.
“They were ambushed,” Grinnell said. “We lost one tonight.”

When officers arrived on scene, they heard a disturbance coming from inside the home and entered the residence.
The first deputy to enter the home was shot and trapped inside. He died from his injuries, the sheriff’s office said.
Another deputy was shot in the armpit and abdomen and is listed in critical condition, while a third deputy was shot in the shoulder and is in stable condition. Both deputies were wounded while attempting to rescue the first deputy.

Grinnell said two people were found dead inside the home, but it was unclear whether they were killed by officers or if it was a murder-suicide. Another person was taken to the hospital, the sheriff’s office said.
No suspects have been arrested so far, according to the sheriff’s office.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the incident.
