Florida teacher Brooke Anderson ‘engaged in sexual activity with a student’ just hours before her arrest

Florida officials have reported that a high school teacher, accused of engaging in an illicit relationship with a student that lasted eight months, had sexual interactions with the boy in her classroom just hours before her arrest.

Brooke Anderson, 27, faces three counts of illegal sexual conduct involving a minor, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

Anderson, who taught science at Riverview High School near Tampa, allegedly started the relationship last September, as recounted by the minor during investigations.

The affair reportedly began with explicit text messages and intensified in the weeks leading up to the arrest, as stated by the authorities.

Multiple incidents of sexual activity between Anderson and the student were reported.

Investigators have indicated that the most recent incident allegedly occurred in Anderson’s classroom before school hours on May 16.

On that same day, Anderson was taken into custody by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office and later released on May 17 after the judge set bail at $45,000—$15,000 for each count.

Officials have expressed that this teacher’s actions severely undermined the trust placed in educators by students and the community, turning what should have been a safe learning environment into a space for abuse. “Her behavior is criminal, calculated, and deeply invasive,” they noted.

If found guilty, Anderson faces up to 15 years in prison, as illegal sexual conduct with minors is classified as a second-degree felony in Florida.

As of now, she has not yet submitted a plea, and it’s unclear whether she has legal representation.

Hillsborough County Public Schools, which employed Anderson, has not yet responded to inquiries for comments.
