A 17-year-old Florida boy accused of killing his mother on Sunday is also suspected of killing his father in 2023.
At a press conference, Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd described the suspect, Collin Griffith, who was taken into custody at his grandmother's home in Auburndale, as a “mentally deranged person,” Fox 13 reported. Reported on wednesday.

According to the Polk County Sheriff's Office, Collin Griffith, of Port Charlotte, killed his mother, Katherine Griffith, 39, also of Port Charlotte, in the unincorporated Auburndale area. Deputies responded to Collin Griffith's 911 call around 6 p.m. Sunday to assist him.
He told police he and his mother had gotten into an argument and that during the argument his mother lunged at him with a knife, causing him to fall on top of it and suffer a deep stab wound to his neck.
Judd said the 911 operator instructed the suspect on how to administer life-saving medication, but the woman was pronounced dead by the time emergency responders arrived on the scene.

According to the affidavit, on February 14, 2023, at approximately 1:00 p.m., officers with the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office in Oklahoma received a call from Collin saying he had shot his father, Charles Griffith.
