Transgender Student’s Arrest Captured on Body Cam

Recent footage from police body cameras in Florida shows a transgender student expressing frustration at an officer who did not use his preferred pronouns. The student, Jarrett Vick, 27, was shouting at officers after they responded to an unrelated call at the University of Central Florida campus.

The incident, recorded in early 2025 and released last Friday, revealed Vick confronting the officers. When asked about the situation, he exclaimed, “Why are you letting those kids escape? They don’t belong here!” This caught the officers’ attention immediately.

One officer warned Vick to tone down his voice, saying he might end up being handcuffed. Vick retorted, “Just do it. I don’t have time to be abused all the time.” It was during this exchange that tensions began to rise.

As the officers communicated over the radio, requesting additional backup, Vick erupted again, demanding the officer use the correct pronouns, shouting, “She! She! Please say the correct pronouns!” This only escalated the situation further.

As events unfolded, the officer brandished what seemed to be pepper spray. At that moment, Vick attempted to flee, expressing anger through shouting, stomping, and flailing his fists. Another individual at the scene tried to intervene but couldn’t calm him down.

When the officers continued to misgender him, referring to him as “he,” Vick retaliated with, “She! She! She! Stop misgendering me!” This heated exchange continued until a physical struggle ensued, leading to Vick being taken into custody, which later involved the use of a Taser.

After the incident, Vick appeared in a mugshot, listed as male in the arrest documents, facing charges of assault against law enforcement, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct. He pleaded not guilty, and his most recent court appearance was in January.

Vick also claimed that police harassed him and even suggested that public attention online was partially his fault.
