Florida woman arrested after allegedly repeatedly stabbing boyfriend’s dog

A Florida woman was arrested Sunday after allegedly stabbing her boyfriend's dog multiple times and later told authorities she “made a mistake,” police said.

The Hernando County Sheriff's Office announced that 23-year-old Megan Lynn Mileskiewicz was arrested and charged with animal cruelty and resisting arrest.

According to the sheriff's office, deputies responded to a 911 call around 10:45 a.m. Sunday after a witness reported a woman repeatedly stabbing her boyfriend's dog inside the home.

When deputies arrived at her Spring Hill home, Mileskiewicz was not inside, but witnesses said she fled out the back door of the residence.

After a brief search, deputies found Mileskiewicz lying face down on the ground behind a tool shed in the backyard, hidden among shrubs.

The officers reportedly ordered the suspect to crawl out of the bushes, but he refused and was eventually removed from his hiding place and taken into custody.

The dog, a 2-year-old pit bull, had two 2- to 3-inch-long lacerations near its butt, the sheriff's office said.

Neither injury was life-threatening, but the wounds were still bleeding, sheriff's officials said.

One witness told deputies that Mileskiewicz became enraged at the dog without warning and armed himself with a pocket knife before attempting to stab the dog.

A witness called 911 after seeing Mileskiewicz stab the dog multiple times.

The sheriff's office also said Mileskiewicz was read his Miranda rights before telling investigators the dog was a “nuisance.”

She also reportedly stated during interrogation that she was upset and that she had “made a mistake.”

Mileskiewicz was arrested on charges of animal cruelty and resisting arrest without violence, according to court records.

She was taken to the Hernando County Jail and bail was set at $3,500.
