Florida Woman Arrested for Unauthorized Dental Work
A woman in Florida has been arrested on charges of conducting dental work without proper authorization across several counties. Emery Martinez, aged 35, is accused of inflicting dental damage on a victim after allegedly installing fake veneers using cyanoacrylate adhesive, commonly known as “crazy glue” or superglue.
The charges against Martinez include fraud and practicing dentistry without a license. Reports suggest that she offered discounted veneer treatments at a location called Tap In Beauty Bar in Pinellas Park. According to sources, victims experienced significant pain and complications, leading to emergency dental treatments that cost thousands of dollars.
Sgt. Windy Vater from the Pinellas Park Police Station noted that many victims were left with hefty bills after the procedures. “They had to spend a lot of money to actually fix their teeth,” she explained, mentioning the lengthy recovery from infections they faced.
Martinez is alleged to have charged around $3,000 for a full set of veneers, which is quite a bargain compared to traditional veneers that often cost over $1,000 each. However, her practices have raised serious concerns as she reportedly performed dental procedures on minors as well.
Authorities discovered that Martinez had been arrested earlier in the year in Hillsborough County for related offenses. It appears she may have changed her name and established multiple businesses to continue her operations undetected.
The American Dental Association has previously cautioned that unlicensed dental procedures can lead to “irreversible harm,” which seems to echo the experiences of those who sought out her services.
