Florida woman tried to kill husband over postcard from ex-girlfriend, police say

A Florida man told authorities that his wife of more than 50 years became so jealous that she tried to kill her husband after she received a postcard from her ex-girlfriend of 60 years.

The man said his wife, Bertha Yalter, 71, tried to suffocate him with a pillow in their North Miami Beach home. WTVT-TV report.

When authorities arrived, they found the unidentified victim in an “extremely vulnerable” condition, according to a police report obtained by the news organization. He had several bruises, open lacerations on both arms and abdomen, and bleeding bite marks, according to news reports.

Yalter allegedly confessed to attacking her husband.

She is charged with attempted second-degree murder, aggravated assault on a person over the age of 65, and assault on a witness.

Jalter is being held without bail in the Miami-Dade County Jail, according to jail records.
