Florida's Lt. Gov. Jay Collins seems to criticize Rep. Byron Donalds

Florida’s Lieutenant Governor, Jay Collins, who might be eyeing a run for governor, seems to be challenging Congressman Byron Donald. This comes just as Donald receives an endorsement from former President Donald Trump for his own gubernatorial campaign.

Collins, appointed earlier in the year by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, shared a retweet that put him in contrast with Donald, using phrases like “tough as nails” for himself and “soft as soybeans” for Donald. He tweeted, “Hard Times → Strong Men” and continued with “Strong people → good times,” adding a few more reflections: “Doing well → being weak” and “Weak man → difficult.”

In another context, Collins expressed that merely traveling across Florida with endorsements isn’t sufficient to prove one’s worth. He said, “It’s not enough to travel around the state with zero records and just endorsements to brag about.” He claimed, “Florida deserves better, and I made it happen,” in a separate post.

Collins was asked during an interview if he is indeed running for governor. He hinted at ongoing plans, saying, “We are finalizing those plans,” and suggested that a decision is imminent, perhaps within the near future.

In contrast to Collins, Donald not only has Trump’s backing but also endorsements from notable figures like Senator Ted Cruz and Representative Chip Roy. Additionally, Elon Musk indicated he supports Donald as well.
