Floyd Mayweather Announces Comeback This Summer
Boxing icon Floyd Mayweather has declared his return to the ring this summer, marking his first competitive fight in nine years. He will be participating in a match facilitated by CSI Sports/Fight Sports.
“I still have what it takes to set even more records in the sport of boxing,” Mayweather stated. He went on to emphasize that no upcoming event could match the audience or revenue potential that his fights generate, particularly referencing an event with Mike Tyson.
As Mayweather nears his 49th birthday, it’s worth noting he hasn’t fought since his 2017 match against Conor McGregor. He retired with an impressive record of 50-0, including 27 knockouts.
Despite his retirement, Mayweather has stayed active, participating in exhibitions against figures like Logan Paul and mixed martial artist Mikuri Asakura. He has another exhibition match planned with 59-year-old Mike Tyson this spring, although details about the locations and broadcast partners are still to be finalized.
Over the span of more than a decade, Mayweather has arguably been America’s top boxing star. His most notable bout was against Manny Pacquiao in 2015, which became the most lucrative match in boxing history. While his defensive skill and speed have always been his trademarks, his personality also helped skyrocket his fame and wealth.
As he approaches the milestone of 50 years of age, Mayweather is determined to preserve his perfect record in the sport.
