Floyd Roger Meyers Jr. Has Passed Away

Floyd Roger Meyers Jr., best known for his portrayal of young Will Smith in “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” has passed away.

He was just 42 years old.

Myers suffered a heart attack early Wednesday at his home in Maryland, as confirmed by his mother, Renee Trice.

Trice mentioned that she had spoken to her son the night before and noted that he had experienced three heart attacks over the last three years.

His sister, Tyree Trice, took to a GoFundMe page to share the news, describing the fatal heart attack as “unexpected” and “sudden.” She expressed how deeply he affected those around him, saying, “He was a devoted father, loving brother, and friend whose kindness, laughter, and warmth touched everyone he met.”

Roger left behind four children: Teryn, Kinsley, Tyler, and Knox. The family is now grappling with the immense loss of someone they loved dearly.

Myers garnered attention in 1992 when he took on the role of young Will Smith in the popular show. He later played Marlon Jackson in “The Jacksons: An American Dream,” working alongside heavyweights like Angela Bassett and Vanessa Williams.

His last acting role was in 2000 on “Young Americans,” a series that lasted for a season. After that, he stepped away from acting.

In recent years, he co-founded The Fellowship Men’s Group, an organization aimed at supporting men in various aspects of life. The organization has expressed its sorrow over his passing on Instagram, highlighting their commitment to continue the mission in his honor.

In what would be his last Instagram post in early September, he celebrated his daughter Tyler’s 10th birthday, sharing a joyful slideshow and sweet words about fatherhood and looking forward to the years ahead.
