Trevor Zegras Signs Four-Year Deal with Flyers

Trevor Zegras is set to see a significant financial boost after a standout season.

The Philadelphia Flyers announced on Wednesday that Zegras has inked a four-year contract. The 25-year-old center, who played the first five seasons of his career with the Ducks before being traded to the Flyers last offseason, will receive $36.5 million, averaging about $9.125 million a year. This contract makes him the highest-paid player on the Flyers roster.

Previously a restricted free agent who had filed for arbitration, Zegras can now bypass that process.

“We’re thrilled to have Trevor with us for the next four years,” said the Flyers’ general manager, Danny Briere. “The growth he demonstrated this past season confirmed his status as a skilled player. We truly believe he has the potential to be an impactful player for the Flyers for years to come. He’s exactly the kind of player who can elevate our team.”

Zegras, who was drafted No. 9 overall in 2019, accumulated 67 goals and 119 assists during his time with the Ducks before joining the Flyers. In his inaugural season with Philadelphia, he scored a career-high of 26 goals while contributing 41 assists, just slightly below his best numbers from the 2022-23 season.

During the playoffs, he recorded two goals and four assists across eight games.

Briere has focused on keeping the core players steady after a successful season, also securing contract extensions for veteran goalie Dan Vladar and right winger Tyson Forster.

Interestingly, the Flyers recently attempted to acquire Leo Karlsson from the Ducks with an unprecedented offer sheet, which was ultimately matched by Anaheim, allowing Karlsson to become a center with the highest average annual value in the league at $18 million.

Following a revitalized season in 2025-26, the Flyers are looking to build on their first-round playoff appearance since 2020, along with a notable win over their rivals, the Penguins.
