Fantasy Football Insights: Key Running Back Additions

With the last season’s issues surrounding running backs, it’s crucial to be proactive on the waiver wire. Some players may become available while others, like Chris Rodriguez Jr. and Jacoley Crosskey Merritt, could be overlooked. But their situations may only get more complicated once Jaden Daniels returns.

If you’ve noticed players like Woody Marks and Kenneth Gainwell making their mark recently, don’t hesitate. If they’re available in your league, you should act quickly. Sometimes, I think it’s wise to take bold steps, especially at this stage in the season.

There’s quite a buzz about the Texans’ backfield. While some might have been skeptical of certain players due to their draft positions—like fourth-round USC picks—others are keeping an eye on them. With Joe Mixin’s unclear status, Marks seems to have a clearer path to playing time than expected.

After the Texans signed Nick Chubb in late August, there was some chatter. Marks aimed for a significant role, pushing past Dareon Pierce and Dare Ogunboir on the depth chart, which is interesting. Chubb didn’t exactly fit right into the team’s initial vision when they signed him.

Although Chubb has been playing a modest role early on, Marks has seen increased snaps and touches. They might share responsibilities, but it feels like Marks is on the verge of taking the lead. Standing at 5’10” and weighing 207 pounds, he possesses the physique for tough runs between the tackles.

Potential Additions to Your Roster

Marks’ average yards per carry are impressive, comparable to Chubb’s, and his yardage after contact is notably better. He’s definitely someone you should consider adding to your roster. If for some reason he’s not available, then perhaps take a look at Gainwell.

Gainwell had quite the performance against the Vikings recently, especially since Jalen Warren was sidelined due to a knee issue. He racked up 99 yards and scored two touchdowns during that game, showcasing his ability as a lead back.

Though rookie Caleb Johnson got some playtime, Gainwell was the clear leader in snaps and touches. His role in the passing game further boosts his appeal, especially in PPR leagues.

The landscape of fantasy football can change rapidly—the injuries and waiver wire movements can create chaos at any point. Even if you’re satisfied with your current roster, being prepared with solid depth is essential. You never know what might come your way during the season.
