Following 'Do Nigel Next' Posts, Farage Questions Whether 'Two Tier' Police Will Respond

The assassination of Charlie Kirk sparked celebrations in various left-leaning areas in both the UK and the US. Comments surfaced suggesting that Nigel Farage should be the next target, prompting him to question whether the well-known British police would actually take action or simply look the other way.

A campaign was initiated by Reform Party candidates in the UK, coinciding with a special election campaign set for Friday morning. Nigel Farage, a key figure in Brexit, reflected on his friend Charlie Kirk’s death and pondered whether the government’s social media task force, known for arresting individuals over tweets, would respond this time.

In Wales, ahead of the Carefiry by-election, Farage shared his thoughts:

“We are a party that values robust, energetic debate and strongly believes in freedom of speech. However, there are boundaries—no one associated with our party should cross those lines.”

When asked by reporters whether Kirk’s assassination made him rethink his security measures—Farage is often seen in public and has dealt with incidents involving cement and milkshakes before—he stated that discussions about his safety had not taken place.

However, after some contemplation, he seemed to reconsider, saying: “What I’m trying to convey is the seriousness of understanding the limits of free speech. Just yesterday, I received threats on TikTok calling for my death; let’s see if the police get involved.”

The government has faced ongoing criticism for a perceived two-tiered system of policing and justice under Keir Starmer’s left-leaning administration, with accusations that different communities are policed and punished unequally. Whether or not these claims hold truth, they seem to resonate with certain factions within the British ruling class and sometimes spark significant backlash.

A report from Lord Toby Young’s Free Speech Union revealed that the UK government arrests around 30 individuals daily over social media posts, marking a comprehensive crackdown that has affected the UK’s global reputation for freedom. Former President Donald Trump has indicated his intention to address concerns with Prime Minister Starmer during his upcoming visit to the UK next week.
