Foo Fighters Guitarist Injured in Gardening Accident
On Wednesday, the Foo Fighters announced that their guitarist, Pat Smear, will be missing several upcoming shows due to a “bizarre gardening accident.” The band shared this news through their Instagram account, where they humorously referenced the odd mishap.
“In the classic tradition of rock stars having bizarre gardening accidents, Pat Smear apparently started the new year with quite the injury—knocking something out of his left foot,” they wrote, sharing a somewhat shocking image of Smear giving a cheeky gesture while on a stretcher.
This post seems to be a nod to the band’s mockumentary “This Is Spinal Tap,” which features a not-so-happy gardening incident involving a character named John “Stumpy” Pepys. Unfortunately, the statement noted that Smear would require time off to heal from multiple fractures in his foot.
“Like everyone, we will miss our beloved Pat, but we’re hopeful he’ll make a complete recovery and return as soon as possible,” they expressed. The band reassured fans that they have arrangements in place during this period. Guitarists Beck and Jason Faulkner, known for their impressive skills, will be stepping in for Smear while he recuperates.
Fans quickly took to the comments section, sharing their support and wishing Smear a fast recovery. However, specific details about the extent of his injuries or the circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear.
The Foo Fighters are scheduled to perform in Mexico on January 10th, followed by a show in Los Angeles on January 14th, according to their official website.
