Nick Reiner appeared calm as he left his parents’ home in Brentwood, just hours before the shocking discovery of his violently murdered body sent ripples through Hollywood.
The 32-year-old, dressed in blue jeans, a long-sleeved shirt, a baseball cap, and carrying a backpack, was seen casually walking near a local gas station shortly before midnight Saturday, according to footage obtained by The Post.
Tragically, Rob and Michelle Reiner were murdered early Sunday morning. Surveillance footage confirmed that Nick was close to their home just before the slayings occurred, as noted by the Los Angeles County District Attorney.
Earlier that evening, a source revealed that Nick and his parents had a “very loud argument” at a holiday party hosted by Conan O’Brien. Interestingly, Nick also seemed to get along with comedian Bill Hader at the event before leaving in a huff. It’s unclear when exactly the family departed from the party.
Rob and Michelle Reiner were discovered dead by their daughter Romy around 3:30 p.m. on Sunday. The couple, who had been married since 1989, reportedly suffered fatal throat injuries. Romy alerted police that Nick was “dangerous,” according to reports.
The morning after the bodies were found, detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department sought out footage from the gas station near Reiner’s home. They identified a clip that possibly showed Nick nearby, and he allegedly shouted, “I’m there,” when the correct timestamp was shown. However, it turned out the timestamp was inaccurate, being an hour ahead of local time.
Nick checked into the Pierside Santa Monica Hotel around 4 a.m. Sunday. Reports suggest he seemed “tweaked” upon arrival, but there were no visible injuries. However, hotel staff later discovered a “bloody shower” and blood on the bed in his room.
Reiner was apprehended by the LAPD’s Gang and Drug Enforcement Unit around 9:15 p.m. on Sunday, with dramatic footage showing officers surrounding and subduing him near Exposition Park. He now faces charges of double homicide for the deaths of Rob and Michelle.
