Footage captures teens scaling Queensboro Bridge in NYC before boy's 50-foot drop

Recent footage highlights a troubling incident involving three teens from Long Island who undertook a dangerous TikTok challenge on the Queensboro Bridge, ultimately resulting in one of them falling 50 feet into a dark steel shaft.

On February 17, video captured by a GoPro shows the boys climbing a steel structure, navigating through a small doorway, and ascending a steep ladder on the Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge. The cityscape, with the East River significantly below, is visible in the background as they approach a pull-in near the bridge walkway.

In the video, one teenager expresses anxiety, saying, “Brother, my heart is racing,” while leaning into the column’s entry. Another chimes in with, “Yo, someone go first! Hmm! No, go first,” before they all enter the dark iron pillar.

While the fall itself wasn’t filmed, another video shows the chaotic aftermath, revealing that the boy, later identified as Frankie, suffered a cardiac arrest.

In distress, he is heard moaning, “Legs! Legs! Legs!” deep in the darkness, according to the footage. Frankie’s family later criticized his friends for failing to assist him and only recording his cries for help without notifying anyone.

The clip transitions into a scene where one of the boys emerges from the mine shaft and captures a voice memo on Snapchat, expressing panic about Frankie’s condition. He states, “Brother, Frankie is dead. Frankie is fucking dead. Oh my god. No, no, no.”

Authorities reported that Frankie was left stranded beneath the shaft for four hours in frigid temperatures. The two boys allegedly took his phone, preventing him from getting help until an unknown woman contacted emergency services.

Reports indicate that Frankie faced severe blood loss and hypothermia, requiring multiple surgeries for his recovery, according to a GoFundMe organized by his family.

This footage was shared in a WhatsApp group for “urban explorers” and later with the media. In response to the incident, law enforcement announced that the two boys involved would face legal repercussions. A 14-year-old was charged with reckless endangerment and trespassing, while a 15-year-old, who remains unidentified, was also charged with trespassing.
