Details Emerge from Britney Spears’ DUI Arrest
Recent police dashcam footage has surfaced, showing Britney Spears struggling with field sobriety tests during her DUI arrest on March 4. This footage, which was made public by TMZ on May 21, reveals the pop star interacting with officers after being stopped for allegedly swerving between lanes. Following her stop, Spears even offered to invite the police to her home.
“I’ll make you food, a lasagna, whatever you want,” she is heard saying in the footage. “I have a pool.”
The officers spent a few minutes with Spears before she attempted a field sobriety test, which she seemed to fail. Video evidence shows police arresting her and leading her away in handcuffs.
As she walked out of view, audio captured her asking if her phone was taken, to which the police responded that it remained in her purse.
According to a police officer’s account, Spears admitted to having consumed a mimosa prior to driving but added, “I could probably drink four bottles of wine and take care of you. I’m an angel,” as reported by TMZ.
Audio from the police dispatch revealed that other drivers expressed concern over her erratic driving. The police report indicated that officers noticed a “distinct odor of an alcoholic beverage” while speaking with her. It also mentioned that Spears acknowledged taking Adderall, Prozac, and Lamictal that day. Notably, she registered under the legal limit on two breathalyzer tests conducted at the station.
On May 4, Spears accepted a plea deal that lowered her DUI charge to a “wet reckless” charge, which is a reckless driving violation linked to alcohol, as TMZ stated.
As a part of the plea agreement, she is required to maintain enrollment in a mental health and substance abuse treatment program, along with attending a DUI class. This also involves weekly meetings with a psychologist and bi-monthly sessions with a psychiatrist, according to the reports.
Additionally, she was subjected to state-mandated fines and received a 12-month probation period, which includes strict stipulations against possessing drugs without a valid prescription.
After her arrest, Spears briefly deactivated her social media accounts but has since returned, primarily posting videos of herself dancing along with messages of inspiration.
