For Christmas season, bakery recreates Nativity scene using bread

A British baker has decided to pay homage to the holiday and the meaning of Christmas by recreating the Nativity scene using bread in a unique way.

According to news service SWNS, the team at Hobbs House Bakery in Gloucestershire, England, created the window display after staff member Amanda Jane and shop manager came up with the idea.

The group used organic wild white sourdough bread to create the characters Mary, Joseph, shepherds and kings.

Jane told the news agency that it took two to three days for the bread to completely dry before it could be cut and varnished.

“I cut one end flat so it could stand upright, and gave it two coats of varnish to keep it from shrinking and molding,” she said.
