Ford pauses shipments of new F-150 Lightning EVs

Ford Motor Co. said Friday it has halted shipments of all 2024 model year F-150 Lightning electric pickup trucks as it conducts quality inspections for unspecified issues.

The Detroit automaker said the suspension of shipments began Feb. 9 and did not say when it would resume shipments. EV truck It started in January.

According to Reuters, a Ford spokesperson declined to say what quality issues were being tested during the suspension order. Ford did not immediately respond to FOX Business’ request for comment.

Last month, Ford announced that it would cut the production level of the F-150 Lightning by half, from the previously planned 3,200 units per week to approximately 1,600 units per week, amid sluggish demand for EVs in the US auto market.
