Ford is recalling about 25,000 trucks because of an issue that could cause rearview camera systems to malfunction.
The automaker says water “infiltrated the tailgate park assist sensor interface module” in 24,950 2023-2024 F-250, F-350, and F-450 trucks. He said this could lead to a malfunction of the camera's image display.
All potentially affected trucks are equipped with a tailgate-top camera that provides an additional camera image when the tailgate is down and is separate from the main rearview camera. “Yes,” Ford said in an Oct. 25 recall report filed with the National Highway Traffic Administration. The recall report indicates that the issue is caused by the camera's “specific mating interface” on the top of the tailgate being “out of tolerance” and the camera bracket being “retained.” Masu.[ing] Please use “water” during application.

According to the report, when this issue occurs, the rear camera image may appear “blue or black” or only work “intermittently”, reducing visibility for the driver. There is a possibility that safety issues may arise.

Ford said in a separate document that this has not resulted in any known accidents or injuries.

According to the recall report, owners of recalled trucks can have their tailgate top camera, wiring harness and TPASIM module replaced free of charge at a Ford or Lincoln dealership. A software update will also be provided for “Image Processing Module A.”
“Pickup and delivery will be available at participating dealers,” a Ford spokesperson told FOX Business. “We are also working on other potential options to make completing this recall as convenient as possible for our customers.”

Owners of affected Ford F-250s, F-350s, and F-40s can expect recall letters to arrive in their mailboxes in early December.
Ford announced early last month that it has sold more than 853,400 trucks of various types in the U.S. so far this year.
