ford motor announced Monday that its U.S. sales rose 10.5% in February due to strong sales of electric vehicles (EVs) and hybrid vehicles.
Sales of Ford’s hybrid vehicles have increased by 36.7% since the beginning of the year through February, with sales of 12,045 vehicles in February, an increase of 31.5% from the same month last year.
Ford commented on the news: “Hybrid vehicles continue to be a growth area for Ford, with sales growing faster than the U.S. industry as a whole for much of last year.”
EV sales volume Ford’s EV sales increased 25.9% year-on-year, and sales increased 80.8% compared to February last year, with 6,368 EV sales in the same month (3,523 in the previous year). Much of the growth in EVs was driven by the F-150 Lightning pickup truck, which grew 93% year over year in February, with 2,578 trucks sold that month.

The move comes as Ford, like other traditional automakers, is looking to focus more on higher-margin hybrid and gas-powered vehicles as demand for EVs shows signs of cooling.

Within the SUV segment, much of the growth came from sales of the Ford Edge, which is up 80.8% year-to-date and 105.2% from February of last year. Ford Escape sales also increased 68.3% year over year. -To date, this month is 105.2%.

The Maverick, a compact pickup sold in gasoline and hybrid variants, is the fastest growing member of Ford’s truck lineup, with sales up 73.4% in February and 84.7% year-to-date, with 25,705 units on track by 2024. Sold. Ford Transits, which function as passenger or cargo vans, had sales of 13,410 units in the month, up 19.6% and up 29.4% for the year so far.
Overall, sales of Ford brand vehicles in February were 165,693 units, up 9% year-on-year, and 6.6% year-to-date to 311,325 units. Sales of Lincoln-branded vehicles increased 38% in the month to 8,499 units, and 29.4% year-to-date to 15,484 units.
