Former ABC News correspondent Terry Moran addressed a social media post on Monday that criticized President Donald Trump and White House aide Stephen Miller. He shared insights into his exit from the network, indicating that ABC had considered the situation to be “bad for business.”

During a conversation with The Bulwark, Moran’s Tim Miller highlighted that the departure followed a suspension related to his social media remarks—a move that seemed more like a strategic decision than purely bureaucratic.

“It’s about their calculations and not necessarily bureaucratic,” Moran said. “I think it was a business decision, and I found myself becoming viewed as a liability.” The tensions stemmed from his comments which he described as authentically reflecting his feelings.

On June 8, Moran had referred to Trump and Miller as “world-class assholes.” He elaborated on Miller’s character in his post, stating that Miller embodies hatred in a profound way, suggesting his demeanor reflects a deep-seated negativity.

Moran described feeling “shaking” and overwhelmed the day after posting his thoughts, suggesting that he realized the weight of what he had shared.

According to sources within ABC News, there was no viable alternative but to scrutinize Moran’s remarks on social media, indicating the gravity of the situation.

Though Moran’s words came from his personal perspective, a collective sentiment echoed among staffers at ABC, with one expressing a sense of sadness over the incident—especially considering their long-standing relationship with him.

“It’s just unfortunate,” the staff member commented, recognizing the complexities of the current media landscape. “We all hoped for a different outcome.” ABC News has yet to respond to inquiries about the matter.
