Former Biden staffer condemns Rashida Tlaib for 'activist' anti-Israel remarks

Former White House aide Yemisi Egbewole has taken aim at Rep. Rashida Tlaib for her outspoken comments against Israel and its backers. Egbewole has accused Michigan’s Democrats of neglecting their constituents in favor of activist-driven rhetoric.

“Rashida Tlaib doesn’t really sound like someone fulfilling their Congressional role. She sounds more like an activist, and it seems she doesn’t take accountability for the people who elected her,” Egbewole commented during an appearance on a morning news show.

She went on to argue that Tlaib’s constituents did not specifically vote for her based on her views regarding Gaza or Palestinians. While recognizing that Tlaib is the first Palestinian American in Congress, Egbewole emphasized that this should not overshadow community safety and local issues.

Egbewole, who previously directed communications for President Biden, expressed that Tlaib should minimize her focus on social media and instead prioritize the needs of her district.

Despite reaching out for a response, Tlaib’s office did not provide any comment on Egbewole’s criticisms.

In another development, at a recent pro-Palestinian conference in Detroit, Tlaib made passionate remarks regarding the struggles faced by her community. She expressed a resolute message, stating that, despite years of adversity, they are still present and influential, and not going anywhere.

Egbewole also touched on the rising crime concerns, reflecting on tension within the Democratic Party regarding law enforcement strategies, particularly in Chicago. She noted that Democrats may be struggling to maintain a strong stance on these issues.
