Former Capitol Police officer who testified before Jan 6 panel announces run for Congress

Former U.S. Capitol Police Officer Harry Dunn, who testified before the House Select Committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol, announced Friday that he is running for Congress.

“One of the things that I'm really happy about that a lot of Democrats, including people in that field, are coming together on is the need to preserve women's choice. But my view is that all of that falls under the umbrella of democracy.”

Discussing Maryland specifically, Dunn said he wanted to address issues related to infrastructure and mental health.

“I think my service and my willingness to stand up and fight back against the people who are currently in the institution, the people who are trying to erode the institution, is one of my strengths,” he said.
