According to her obituary, Anderson was born in Texas on April 27, 1983. After graduating from the University of Richmond, she worked as a software engineer. She is dedicated to philanthropy and giving back to her community, and she has been described as a “passionate advocate for Black women in STEM and women’s health.”

She is survived by her husband, Clayton, her two parents, and a younger brother. According to her obituary, she was “predeceased by her infant son, James Charles, and her infant daughter, Charlotte Willow.”
